"Marquetry Box, Directoire Period "
Lovely Directoire period box, in marquetry of various species. Of good size, on a background of blond oak, it is covered with lemon tree veneer for the bottom, mahogany and rosewood for the fillets and borders, enhanced with ebony on the decorative friezes. An elegant monogram animates the lid. It has its key and its lock which works. A small lack at the corner, slight visible but not annoying cracks, witnesses of its antiquity, but the whole is in a good state of conservation, in particular the varnish which highlights the nuances of the woods.
