""the Feast Of Balthazar", Large Oil On Wood, Workshop Of F.franken II (1581-1642)"
Large oil on oak panel (105 x 72), representing "the feast of Balthazar". Attributed to Frans FRANKEN II and his workshop. The Antwerp workshops shone across Europe by producing small and medium-sized paintings illustrating religious, historical or mythological scenes. Balthazar, king of Babylon, uses the gold tableware of the Great Temple of Jerusalem, plundered by his father Nebuchadnezzar, to give a feast. He will die shortly after, as announced the divine hand emerges from the hanging at the top in the middle. Good general condition, some chips at the top, easily restorable.
