Henry Claude d'Estienne, born in Conques-sur-Orbiel (Aude) on August 1, 1872 and died in Paris on March 11, 1949, is a French painter. The artist is a recognized painter of Brittany where he stays regularly, mainly in Faouët and Ouessant, settling in the Lion d'Or hotel. He painted many views of Brittany from 1903, including Wedding in Brittany, after the church (1904, Paris, Musée d'Orsay), Old Breton Woman from Morbihan (1911, private collection), Little Girl from Pougastel-Daoulas (1912, Musée des Beaux-Arts de Nantes), On Ouessant, the Cliffs in Heavy Weather (1913, ), Young Woman in Cap-Sizun Costume Near the Porch of the Church of Saint Tugen (between 1920 and 1930, Quimper, Musée Départemental Breton), Interior of the Chapel of Saint-Fiacre, Le Faouët (Musée du Faouët), Under the Halles du Faouët (Musée du Faouët) and The Pardon of the Chapel of Sainte-Barbe (Musée du Faouët). His clientele was varied: King Fouad of Egypt acquired several Breton paintings by the painter. Henry d'Estienne is finally a portrait painter of great classicism. In addition to portraits of members of his family including his only daughter Suzanne d'Estienne, of friends or made to order, he painted subjects from his two great favorite themes: the Orient and Brittany. He exhibited his works at the Salon des Artistes français from 1893 to 1947, classified hors-competition from 1904 and member of the Salon committee.
