The pope with the longest pontifical term (31 years) of all time, Pius IX, is represented here in a 19th century hardwood medallion. It is part of a series of famous figures, crowned heads, politicians, the arts and letters as well as religious figures, made at that time in this hardwood technique which has now disappeared at the same time as the factory and the molds during the fire of the only manufacturing plant in Sezanne at the beginning of the 20th century. You will also find in my gallery photo frames in this material.
