DESCRIPTION: very beautiful and rare support piece of furniture forming a writing desk, two doors, with a high drawer and a sliding top. Marquetry of brass threads, important ornamentation of gilded bronzes with in the center of the doors, a large circled bronze medallion, and framed by leafy spandrels. High and low falls complete the whole. In the upper part, a drawer including a sliding top covered with gilded leather with small irons, serving as a writing top. The entire piece of furniture is veneered with lemon tree, work of very good quality. Two stamps of the famous cabinetmaker Charles Guillaume DIEHL on the drawer.
