Louis Rault Box With Animal Decor
Louis Rault 1847 1903 was a French jeweler, sculptor and medalist under the empire. This box is a testimony to the taste for nature in the 19th century. Each side is decorated with a plaque with different scenes: on the front the deer at the back. Wild boars and piglets and on the sides the grouse and ducks. Each foot is decorated with a garland of oak branches with acorns. The lid, a garland of brambles with blackberries and on each side a lizard and a frog. High quality carving. Each plaque is monogrammed LR (difficult to photograph). This box can be kept as is or have it cleaned to restore its original shine.
