Boris Tabacoff, an artist of Bulgarian origin, studied at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris and began his career working with great designers such as Marcel Gascoin and Marcel Breuer. In 1958, he founded his own design studio, where he created many iconic pieces of furniture that were widely exhibited and acclaimed. His designs are characterized by a minimalist approach, with clean lines and simple materials such as wood and metal. He also experimented with new forms, such as teardrop chairs and moon-shaped sofas. Tabacoff worked with many furniture brands, including Thonet, Disderot, Steiner and Prisunic. Some of his most famous designs include the "Galbé" chair, the "Lune" sofa, and the "Globus" armchair. His work has been recognized with several awards, including the René Gabriel Prize in 1964 and the Prix de la Ville de Paris in 1969. Tabacoff was also a member of the jury for the prestigious French design award "Laque 71". Boris Tabacoff passed away in 2021 at the age of 91, leaving behind a significant legacy in the world of design.
