The front of the cylinder presents a marquetry composition illustrating a writing set composed of a roll of parchment, an inkwell and stacked books, in a refined foliage decoration. Top in Aleppo breccia marble, surrounded by a finely chiseled and gilded bronze gallery. Fluted uprights finished with gilded bronze sabots, enhanced with sculpted garlands.
