Painter: Robert Simon (1888-1961), French painter. He exhibited regularly in Paris, Salon d'Automne, Salon des Artistes Français. He liked to paint on a small format in order to create maximum intensity in a minimum of space. He was friends with the painters Pougny, Kvapil, André Lhote. Still life of a bouquet of nasturtiums on a pedestal table with a watch in the foreground. The flowers display warm shades of orange, yellow and red. The rest of the painting is dominated by vibrant shades of green and brown. The painting exudes a certain poetry and an old-fashioned charm accentuated by the period frame. The painting is an oil on wood, signed lower right, studio stamp on the back. 28 × 32.5 with frame and 18 × 13.5 without frame.
