18th Century Porcelain Perfume Salt Bottle, Enameled Gold Stopper
This superb and unusual bottle, to be placed lying down, has a body in white porcelain with twisted ribs, decorated with roses, leaves and small flowers. The stopper, articulated by a hinge, is superbly worked in embossed relief and enameled with flowers and leaves of bright colors on an amati background.
The enameled stopper is in 18 carat gold tested with a touchstone.
The mount is in silver gilt, tested with a touchstone. It has its internal emery stopper.
No hallmarks or marks.
Tested with a touchstone: 18 carat gold for the enameled stopper. Silver gilt for the mount.
Discreet enamel losses.
A few tiny tears in the porcelain.
The porcelain appears to be from the 18th century, the hinged mount and the hoop mid-19th century.
