Beautiful Art Deco style silver plated cutlery set for 12 people including:
12 table spoons, 20.5 cm,
12 table forks, 20.5 cm,
12 tea/coffee/dessert spoons, 13.8 cm,
1 serving/stewing spoon, 25.3 cm,
1 ladle, 32 cm.
Very good condition, few visible scratches from use and very nice shine, but some points of desilvering on the backs of the fork tines, see last photo. Alfenide hallmark in full.
"OC" hallmark with a horse's head for "Orfèvrerie Christofle".
Hallmark of grammage 84, good quality of silvering.
Alfenide is a goldsmith brand created in the 19th century by a certain Charles Halphen and bought by Christofle at the beginning of the 20th century. Christofle used the Alfénide brand to produce some of their models that duplicate others in their range. Thus, the two hallmarks coexist for this model. They are exactly the same cutlery, exactly the same design, produced in the same workshops, only the hallmark changes, "Alfénide" for the pieces from the 50s and Christofle for the more recent pieces.
Case in average condition, stained inside, but closes perfectly.
