Vintage albumen and watercolor print (circa 1880) The quality and color preservation are exceptional. Kusakabe Kimbei photographs in the studio and stages a very picturesque vision of Japanese culture by featuring this Kyoto dancer dressed in a kimono, paper fan in hand. circa 1880 - Photo format 20.5 x 26.5 cm - Under mat 40x50cm Kusakabe Kimbei (1841-1934) was a colorist and assistant to Felice Beato and Baron Raimond Von Stillfried before opening his own studio in Yokohama in 1881. Around 1885, he bought the negatives of Beato and Stillfried. Kimbei immortalized, at the end of the 19th century, many portraits of Japanese people. The prints, which he colored by hand, were then sold to tourists visiting the country. https://www.lavalisearlesienne.com/product-page/copie-de-kusakabe-kimbei-1841-1934-la-danseuse-de-kyoto-circa-1880
