Tapestry Fragment, Gobelins Manufactory, 18th Century
Beautiful fragment of embroidered tapestry of wool and silk.
It represents a bouquet of flowers (roses, tulips, carnations among others) in a large glass serving as a vase, placed on a furniture tray or an entablature. The upper part is framed by two inverted applique consoles, surmounted by a festoon decorated with palms and acanthus leaves.
This fragment is stretched on an oak frame. It is framed by a grooved half-round rod, with ribbon patterns, and a serrated interior border.
