MECHELEN, second quarter of the 17th century The Crucifixion, beautiful alabaster plaque carved in bas-relief with gold and polychrome highlights. The cartouche bears the monogram IT For Isaak Van Tissenaken (c.1597-1650).
Original pastiglia frame with interlacing decoration. Very good general condition for this alabaster 400 years old and presented with his original frame. Nocracks or missing parts.

Isaac Tissenaken was a member of a large family of alabaster sculptors who often signed their works. Isaac is mentioned as occupying a house in Bruul in Mechelen, in 1643.
