Portable sundial and compass by Michael Butterfield (1635-1724) in its original case lined with green velvet. Sundial complete with its finely chiseled gnomon of a bird and functional compass with fleur-de-lis to the North. Indication on the reverse of the latitude and longitude of French and European cities. Rare in this state of preservation.
