A Japanese Imari barber’s bowl or shaving basin.
Japan, 18th century, Edo period (1603-1868).
Decorated in the centre with a jardinière of flowers in a fenced garden, the border with three cartouches containing landscapes against a blue background. The two drill holes at 12 o’clock are overglaze and thus original holes. The plate is equipped with an old metal wall hanging.
