Charming oil on canvas depicting a ballerina in a tutu looking at herself in the mirror of her dressing table. Our young ballerina with a pretty face offers us a very beautiful pose, her bust slightly inclined towards the mirror, a bouquet of multi-colored flowers in her hand. On her toes, she begins a classical dance step. The subtle variation of colors, impressionist touches as well as the delicate presence of a Japanese bouquet of flowers on the left add to the grace that emerges from the subject. The painting is highlighted by its original "Montparnasse" frame with a golden patina with its cartouche with the artist's name. Signed lower right "Léon Galand". The artist is listed in the Bénézit. French painter and illustrator, he was born in Montpellier. A student of Ernest Michel, Robert Delaunay, Gustave Moreau, he exhibited regularly in Paris at the Salon des artistes français from 1904 and won a gold medal, a second Prix de Rome and many other awards. He also exhibits at the Salon d'hiver in Paris. He was decorated with the Legion of Honor. He creates landscapes, genre scenes but also nudes and portraits of women. Dimensions: 55 cm x 38 cm (10 P format) 74 cm x 57 cm with its frame The painting, on its original tight-grained canvas, is in very good condition. The Marie-Louise in the frame needs to be repainted. Please note that I respond to all requests about my objects.
