Rare set including a console and a mirror in blackened, gilded and painted wood of antique inspiration.
The console, topped with molded Italian Portor marble, is decorated with three portraits in bronze medallions alternating with two painted friezes representing fantastic creatures and foliage scrolls on a golden background. It rests on sculpted winged sphinxes, with gilded plastrons highlighted with flowers, resting on an openwork spacer decorated with palmettes.
It is topped with a large matching mirror bordered by grotesques on a gold background, surrounded by a fluted brass tube and adorned with carved wooden chimeras.
The pediment with a Gorgon’s head in gilded bronze is crowned with two cupids holding a coat of arms with a lion rampant holding a cross.
