Here we present an amazing Gold Bulla with a perfect granulation, wirework and filigree that only Castellani House was able to achive in the half of the 19th century. For this reason they received important awards at exibitions in London and Paris. Have a close look at the incredible perfect details of the hand-work of the Castellani goldsmiths...today they no longer exists..! The Bulla opens on a hinge and can be clipped over a chain. (Chain shown here is not included). It has a locket section inside with the famous Castellani maker's monogram ( the two opposit C ). 18K Gold. Circa 1860. From Rome for the Grand Tour tourists and European exibitions. A Bulla is a lentil shaped opening pendant used to contain small objects for good luck and protection from evil spirits. Its origins date back to the Etruscan and Roman era and it reappeared during the Archeological revival of the 19th century with Castellani.
