"Large Framed Gouache 18th Century Signed Jb Huet"
Jean-Baptiste HUET (1745-1811) " Aristocratic country scene " Circa 1785. Gouache on paper, signed lower left in ink " jb Huet " 0.350 x 0.495 H.54cm x W.66.5cm with 19th century mount and 18th century gilded wooden frame. Provenance: Hugues Collection, France. Private collection Rome, Italy. Very good condition, no foxing or stains, note on the vertical periphery tiny losses to the paper, hidden by the mounting (see unframed photos) Rare and large gouache signed by JB Huet, illustrating a fashionable theme around 1780-1785, depicting an aristocratic woman, giving fresh milk to her children on a farm on her property (castle visible in the background) - Just like Queen Marie-Antoinette at Trianon or the Rambouillet Dairy. The dress of this lady is reminiscent of the outfits of the Queen in these situations... and allows us to date this gouache around the years 1780-1785. The photos of the uncropped gouache and details are 90% close to reality. Prettier in real life.
