Sun Shutter Panel - Jean Prouvé Design - 1950s

Artist: Jean Prouvé
Panel called "ONDE (wave)" designed by Jean Prouvé for the production of tropical habitat with a metal structure. Developed in the 1950s. It will be prefabricated during the 1960s for the local construction of buildings in equatorial Africa. Hence their name HABITAT STANDARD CAMEROON. Composed of 2 blue lacquered wooden uprights in which 7 "waves" in ribbed aluminum sheet are inserted. This panel is a facade element, this one is the mobile part mounted on a slide, serving as a door and shutter. It is openwork on each wave return in order to improve ventilation and let daylight pass through. Original condition and patina. Stained wood and some cracks at the base. Remnants of old closing system. Some deformations on the aluminum. Expertised by Cabinet Coulet. From Africa, old import.
