Great Saint Margaret - Circa 1500
A remarkable late Gothic work by a master sculptor in the 1500s. A Germanic work. In carved wood with a hollowed back, our representation is beautifully polychromed and gilded.
Margaret of Antioch with the Archangel Michael and Catherine of Alexandria, are said to have appeared to Saint Joan of Arc to entrust her with the mission of liberating the Kingdom of France.
