Imposing sandstone head of a Khmer deity, pre-Angkorian style (8th century). Probably the bodhisattva Maitreya. Cambodia, mid-20th century. Provenance: Estate of the art dealer Claude de Marteau, decorative element of his shop in the Sablon in Brussels. (1970's) Total height 80 CM, approximately 30 kg on sight. The head alone: H 59 CM x W 29 C x D 29 CM Delivery: By carrier, packed on a wooden pallet. Rare small signs of wear, see photos.
