Dimensions: 48 cm high X 27.5 cm wide. Igor Mitoraj (1944-2014), Franco-Polish artist, he has become a key figure in the history of art. He shared his life between Paris and Italy. In 1976, he exhibited his works in Paris, then moved to Tuscany to work with marble. Mythological and ancient themes are one of his main sources of inspiration, also fascinated by pre-Hispanic art, he went to Central America to draw inspiration from the monumental heads of the Mayans, Aztecs, Olmecs, and other pre-Columbian civilizations. Some of his works are close to ancient works in the state of conservation in which they are known today, like his Winged Victory of Samothrace. He received numerous commissions for public places. His works exhibited in the Valley of the Temples, in Sicily, have been classified as World Heritage Sites. Represented in several museums, he is also consecrated by monumental public statuary, notably in Paris (La Défense), Angers (forecourt of the Museum of Fine Arts), Rome (Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli e dei Martiri), London (Canada Square) and Lausanne (Olympic Museum Park). An Igor Mitoraj Foundation museum opened in Pietrasanta in 2022. Like Salvador Dali, he gives bronze a new lease of life.
