Beautiful cubist painting signed lower left Bernard de Sommyèvre, countersigned on the back and titled "Café du port". A scene of a café terrace facing a busy harbor, featuring three seated figures, apparently a letter carrier and two fishermen wearing Basque berets and jackets, and a waitress bringing drinks. Circa 1940. Under marie-louise, in a Montparnasse frame in carved wood. Dimensions of the canvas 46.5x55 cm Total dimensions, with frame, 65x74.5 cm Bernard de Sommyèvre is a French painter born in Versailles in 1890, died in Malakoff in 1953. He exhibited in Paris, at the Salon des Tuileries and the Salon d'Automne of which he was a member. Artist listed in the Benezit.
