Japanese Art Nouveau Crystal And Bronze Cup Escalier De Cristal Baccarat 1880
Large Japanese bowl from the Art Nouveau period in cut crystal and bronze mount, circa 1880. Probably work by L'Escalier de Cristal - Baccarat.
Cut crystal decorated with bamboo, bamboo leaves and birds. The gilded bronze frame represents a stylized turtle supporting flowering branches. The cup fits into the frame.
A similar cut pair (a different model with the herons above) were sold for 5000 USD plus fees in 2016 (see photo).
Height: 14.5 cm. Width: 29.5 cm. Total weight: 5 Kg !! Very good state. No cracks, no chips. Very nice work.
