"Commode In Rosewood And Mahogany, Louis XV / Louis XVI Transition Style – Late 19th Century"
Chest of drawers with three drawers in rosewood veneer, mahogany and various woods, topped with Aleppo breccia marble. The first of these drawers, in the upper part, has a raised front, with a mahogany rim and inlaid with a composition of lemon tree and ebony arranged in a staggered pattern. The second and third drawer, deeper, feature marquetry surrounded by a composition of lemon tree and ebony with Greek angles. The crosspiece is hidden allowing continuity of the patterns between the two facades. Each drawer is fitted with two scalloped ring pull handles, original chiseled mascarons, a brass-ribboned entrance and a functional authentic lock with rear key. This piece of furniture is decorated with a base decorated with acanthus leaves and a tureen. The uprights are nicely highlighted by three double nets of lemon tree and amaranth with bronze drops and sabots on curved feet. The slightly concave projecting sides are worked in the same way, using identical geometric patterns. This chest of drawers is particularly interesting for its lines, its dimension and the warm tones of its wood species. ******** Period: Late 19th Century Excellent condition.
