Large Porcelain Dish With Blue And White Decor Of Horsemen - China 18th Kangxi Period
Large porcelain lobed dish decorated in blue and white with two horsemen and two standard-bearers. The background of the central scene shows a wall.
The border is decorated with peony, prunus, orchid and arrowhead.
On the reverse is a mark that can be translated as :
"Elegantly made like precious stone for sacred friendship".
China 18TH KANGXI PERIOD (1661-1722)
The painting of the figures is highly accomplished, and it is rare to see such attention to detail, particularly on the horses and their harnesses, but also on the soldiers' outfits.
