FRANCESCA GUERRIER (1926 - 2011) Ceramic artist, sculptor, painter Work of Francesca GUERRIER 1926 2011 Black stone drawing Santorini Greek Islands 65 x 50cm Santorini Archipelago in the Greek Islands Original work technical drawing with black stone is part of the series of works drawn and painted "the Greek Islands" by Francesca GUERRIER dimensions 65 x 50 cm Francesca Guerrier (1927-2011), daughter of the painter Francis Montagnier, studied the history of art and archeology from 1945 to 1947, then teaches drawing in Parisian schools. At the same time, she learned ceramics from Guidette Carbonell in Meudon. In 1961, married the painter Raymond Guerrier, and settled in Provence. She specializes in a figurative style influenced by cubism, in wall decorations on lava plaques, works for public buildings, devotes herself to the human figure and religious art. Francesca Guerrier began her studies in Paris in the artistic environment of her father: the painter Francis Montanier. After her studies in Art History and Archaeology, she began her career as a drawing teacher. She demonstrated her attraction to drawing, engraving with a burin, and finally ceramics which would become her major activity taught by Giudette Carbonnel. She specializes in wall decorations on lava plates, models and illustrates terracotta dishes, creates unique shapes in raw clay called chamotte earth and creates sculptures where abstract figures with such elegant lines evoke solitude, peace or fraternity. Sacred Art will remain his vocation. She will explore it throughout her career. His work also consists of drawings, gouaches, oil paintings and tapestries. – 1967-1969: Stations of the CrossSantorin Greek Islands Sacred figures for the Church of Saint-Marcel in Paris 13th century – 1972: swimming pool in the town of Saint-Denis – 1973: Stations of the Cross for the Church of Sainte-Hélène. – 1974: Facade of a school group in La Courneuve: “Fraternité” (25 m2) Numerous exhibitions of his drawings, gouaches, tapestries, oils and ceramics, including the Vallauris Biennale in 1976-78-80-82.1998, publication of a book on his “Biblical Paintings”, published by Editions du Cerf.
