Giuseppe Grazioli, Silver Lanterne Rome 1783
Giuseppe Grazioli, an active and appreciated silversmith who worked in Rome for almost half a century, is the author of this refined and grandiose oil lamp of the type commonly known as 'alla fiorentina', characterised by a mixtilinear foot that supports the stem with shaped and flattened nodes, emphasised by ribbing that contributes to its graceful and slender shape. From the base, decorated with clear lines, rises the slender stem with delicately ornamented baluster elements. On the edge of the foot is the silversmith's mark (a double G within an oval)1. The chamber hallmark, with crossed keys and pavilion, is placed in several parts of the object and allows it to be dated to the years 1781-1783
