François GOS (1880-1975) Swiss winter school in Morcles oil on panel (hardboard) signed lower left and on the back format with the frame 73cm x 63cm. Swiss painter, co-founder of the School of Fine Arts in Lausanne, has had a long, strong career with varied inspirations. His travels, particularly in Provence, quickly added color and strength to his powerful landscapes. A stay in Paris, where he received an order for an Art Nouveau illustration album, contributed to his notoriety. Then a trip to Munich led him to continue exploring different pictorial trends, pointillism, expressionism, post-impressionism, supported by a very solid technique.
