Antique Ivory Cameos Turtleshell Gold Earrings

The Medusa head and the myth of Perseo is a long story well represented in the art history. From the Medusa blood originated the precious red coral etc...  Here we have a pair of antique earrings with a Medusa head carved in the precious ivory full of details. Please look carefully at the amazing snakes that move realistically around the head. The face is very expressive. It is mounted on turtleshell and on the top there is a bead of turtleshell gold piquè points. All is mounted in 14K gold. It is an amazing little masterpiece of art. From Rome, end of the 19th century. 14K gold (touchstone tested). They are in  perfect condition.
