Red enameled ceramic pitcher decorated with a medallion representing a sun with a human face. France, circa 1960, signed Cloutier .
Good condition.

The Cloutier brothers born in 1930, died in 2008 and 2015 are French ceramists and sculptors. They worked, first of all, in the workshops of Jouve, Rivier and Chambost ,then created their own workshop in 1956. They developed an enamel red which met with international success, then created1960 new cooking methods. Their work was, then, most often utilitarian and decorative. They created models for Haviland in 1964, and collaborated on interior decoration projects with certain architects for the Lafayette and Air France galleries, carried out commissions for Mitsukoshi from 1967 and also collaborated with the painter Edouard Pignon.
