Superb set of 4 Japanese chairs. Carved and inlaid wood. Backrest pediments decorated with vegetal friezes marquetry. Feet in the shape of animal claw paws, characteristic of the style. Elegant quality fabric. Art Nouveau / Japonisme, France, around 1880. Attributed to Gabriel Viardot (1830-1904), famous Parisian cabinetmaker specializing in the production of "Chinese-Japanese style" furniture. He distinguished himself and received several medals at the Universal Exhibitions of 1867, 1878, 1889 and 1900. In very good condition, completely restored a few years ago, upholstery and fabrics in very good condition. Treated against borers and waxed.
