Superb Asian Cabinet in carved Chinese mahogany (toona sinensis). Carved with plant and animal motifs: 1 bat carved at the bottom of the piece of furniture. Very beautiful furnishing bronzes: keyhole in the shape of a bat, upper cupboard door decorated with 4 bronze bats facing each other (symbol of good fortune, happiness and longevity). 2 cupboards Keys and locks OK Very good condition, new polished waxed finish. Indochina (Vietnam) or South China. Circa 1880-1900 It was then the period of Japonism (1870-1910) and the colonies, furniture and objects from the Far East were then fashionable, they came from China, Indochina, or Japan, when they were not reinterpreted by European cabinetmakers (Viardot, Perret & Vibert, etc.).
