6 Charles X Chairs
Set of 6 chairs in bird's-eye or figured maple from the Charles X period, neo-Gothic style, around 1830.
They are supported by saber-shaped rear legs, and front legs in a strangled baluster shape, highlighted with rosewood rings. The backs feature a double arch springing from simplified Corinthian capitals, incorporating cabochons with flat decor and concentric circles reminiscent of stained glass.
A metope, adorned with a scattering of seeds and centered with a quatrefoil, unites the whole at the top rail, closed by coiled acanthus leaves.
The seat upholstery in embossed velvet needs reshaping. Very good overall condition.
Rare model.
