La Douleur By Albert Bartholomé
Artist: Albert Bartholomé
La douleur, bronze bas-relief mounted on sandstone by Albert Bartholomé.
Albert Bartholomé (1848-1928) was a trained painter but devoted himself to sculpture following the death of his wife. The artist's consecration was the Monument aux Morts of the Père-Lachaise Cemetery, inaugurated with great fanfare and representative of the symbolist taste of the time. The artist declined various figures from his monument, including the one we present published by Siot-Decauville and which enjoyed significant success.
