Charming landscape illustrating a village on the banks of a river in the heart of the mountains.
Signed Godchaux lower left.
Alfred Godchaux was a landscape painter born in Paris in 1839 and died in Reims in 1907. He was a student of Gustave Courbet. Known for its Pyrenean landscapes and seascapes. From 1880 he became a member of the southwest section of the French Alpine Club.
French school from the end of the 19th century.
