Black patinated bronze covered with a gilt bronze drape decorated with a seedling of bees and topped with a cushion bearing the imperial crown. The drapery reveals the coffin closed by a lid with this inscription “NAPOLEON” in golden letters, itself discovering a gilded bronze plaque engraved “Napoleon, Emperor and King, died at St. Helena on May 5 MDCCCXXI” and a laurel wreath. Under the plaque, a full-length statuette of the Emperor in gilded bronze holds a gold medallion under glass which contains a small piece of wood, as well as a medal of Saint Helena (without its ribbon). The interior covered in ivory silk. The tomb is garnished at the four corners with chiseled bronze ornaments and enriched on both sides with the “N” of Napoleon and four gilded bronze handles. It rests on a bronze base with black-green patina with four steps.
Very good good general condition.
