Nevers, circa 1792
An interesting earthenware plate from the workshops of Nevers, with a patriotic rooster design. This animal was synonymous with vigilance from around 1790. The presence of the gallinaceous bird on the barrel refers to the threats within the borders but also to the pressure on the new state in the face of the first coalition.
