Jean Etchevererrygaray (1877 – 1952) “Old bridge in the Basque Country” Oil on panel signed lower left L: 55 cm x H: 38 cm Biography of Jean Etcheverrigaray: Self-taught painter, born in Saint-Jean-de-Luz on 8 October 1877. Building painter, musician, curious mind, he learned to paint with Floutier. He was at the origin of the creation of the Municipal Harmony of St-Jean-de-Luz. He is the author of numerous fandangos. A retrospective exhibition on his work took place in 1993 in Saint-Jean-de-Luz, where he died in 1952.
