"Saint Sebastian Watercolor Symbolist "
Amazing watercolor around 1910/1920 , in the symbolist movement, of a martyred Saint Sebastian. As the sheet is not signed, it is not easy to identify its author. However, the technique is not common, combining characters inherited from a very fin de siècle symbolism, but moving towards a cruel expressionism. All in fawn and heavy colors. this work takes a raw look at the suffering of the young martyr, the unspoken, and the irony of the spectators. We are in the world of Huysmans, of Sar Peladan. Debussy's music sounds saccharine, and strange.... unframed (for now)
