"Memory Of Friendship, Of Love... In Grisaille"
Miniature in grisaille under glass from the 18th century, presented in a gilded frame from the late 19th century. It is certainly a box lid from the 18th century, a gift of intention, of lovers... with a very typical subject of the Louis XVI period. A romantic scene created in grisaille under beveled glass in a frame with cut corners probably in silver. In a garden, framed by two trees, a woman seated on the left lifts a veil with the help of Cupid in the guise of an angel to discover three colored pansy flowers (symbol of admiration for others), at the foot a quiver (symbol of love) and a sitting dog (symbol of fidelity). There is no doubt about the destination of this object for a bride or groom, a legend is added at the bottom of the decoration: FRIENDSHIP DISCOVERS THEM TO YOU. This plaque is glued to red-brown velvet in a gilded frame from the end of the 19th century, with some small discreet gaps in the decorative spandrels. Dimensions of the miniature: 7.2 cm x 5.1 cm. Delivery: €10 for mainland France.
