Sterling Silver Table Candlestick Service - "the Four Seasons"

Suite of superb table candlesticks in solid silver whose attributes represent the symbols of the four seasons. Winter, autumn, with Bacchus, wine, the vine, garlands of flowers for spring and Venus; lightly draped indicating summer, Nymph etc... Each of the four candlesticks rests on a richly decorated circular pedestal; on the short seat is a festoon of fleur-de-lys buds; the navel, for its part, is decorated with isolated panels representing languid profiles interrupted by flowers and mascaroons. On the terrace, acanthus leaves are installed under the navel, topped with three lions' heads. On the binet, chiseled in high relief, rams' heads support the bobeches; seasonal scenes, the Hours personifying time, adorn the contours, the bobêches themselves, engraved with leafy friezes. Missing one or two accessories in the hands of the characters (see photos), micro-marks of use, excellent conditions. Hallmarks on the base (3), probably German, inscribed on each of these four magnificent candlesticks. Height - Height: 24.3 cm./ 9.57 in.
