La conciergerie le Pont Neuf by Paul Petit large oil on canvas signed lower right format with frame 88cm x 76cm. Paul Petit (1920-2009) is a French painter, lithographer and writer. Paul Petit was born on January 8, 1920 in Saint-Valery-sur-Somme into a family of building painters. His grandfather and his mother introduced him to the graphic arts which they also practiced. He was a prisoner of war until the liberation by the Russians in 1945. In 1966, Paul Petit set up an exhibition of paintings in Battle (England), town twinned with Saint-Valery-sur-Somme Other exhibitions will follow. His paintings have earned him numerous awards. Mainly linked to the Bay of Somme, his work highlights the changing character of the local atmosphere with an "impressionist" touch particular to the artist. He also produces work linked to the Germany, Great Britain, Venice, the south of France, Alsace. On the occasion of the centenary of his birth, a retrospective of his work is presented by the Society of History and Archeology of Saint-Valery-sur-Somme, Ponthieu and Vimeu, at the Saint-Pierre chapel in Saint -Valery-sur-Somme, as part of the European Heritage Days, September 18 and 19, 2021
