Red And Gold Painted Tin, Cooler For 12 Glasses, Directoire Style
Artist: Ateliers Parisiens
Here is a beautiful cooler, Art of the Table, early 19th century: painted tin canopy, with two iron handles, red lacquered body enriched by gold threads, still vivid, as well as the large oval reserve on each side , showing a landscape in golden relief on a black background, and a small Chinese character, forming a beautiful contrast. On edge: 12 notches for 12 small white wine stemmed glasses, to be refreshed in iced water from well. Dimensions: 35cm overall, 21cm and 11cm.
Good general condition, original painted decor is still fresh, no holes or welds, just a few traces of rust on bottom. French work, Directoire style, Restauration period, circa 1830/40, extra color. See photos, it's superb.
