Neo-Gothic period in Solid Silver, enamel and Stones, 19th century.Around the perimeter, large Crown of Thorns engraved in reserve, on a vermiculated background.
The center is set with an enamel, most likely on copper, representing the veil of Saint Veronica with the Holy Face on a purple background.
Emphased by an applied quadrilobe of the IHS trigram as well as a Cross on a vermiculate background.
Three stones and a pearl set highlight the center of the patene:
An emerald
A ruby
An amethyst
Half a pearl of fresh water.
The back of the patena is engraved with a Glorious Cross.
Punched with wild boar hure, for solid silver from 1838.
Beautiful patena, richly decorated according to several techniques - engraving, enamel, crimping - which make it a first-quality museum piece.
