"Mèrio Amèglio (1897-1979) “paris, Moulin De La Ga Sous La Neige” School Of Montmarte, Quizet, "
Superb oil/canvas by Mério Ameglio representing an animated view under the snow in Montmartre, Paris circa 1950/60 signed lower left. Format without frame 46x55cm. This is therefore a magnificent post-impressionist composition by Merio Ameglio who paints here a lively Parisian view under the snow, near the Moulin de la Galette in Montmartre. As usual he uses his typical touch where he mixes small touches divided in the manner of the pointillists and larger touches, as for his palette it is of great subtlety with whites, grays, pink, mauve, browns, blue and red. Ameglio was very skilled at painting snow and its effects, especially in urban landscapes. I no longer present Merio Ameglio, an emblematic Parisian painter from the mid-20th century, referenced among the painters of the Montmartre school whose most famous representatives are Utrillo, Quizet, Maclet, Gen Paul, Genin, Dubuc etc... Mério Améglio is born in San Remo but spent his entire childhood in the south of France. Passionate about painting from a very young age, he observed artists working on the Riviera and learned by watching them work. He decides to go to Paris to improve his skills, and returns to the capital, painting the landscapes he crosses. In Paris, he settled in Montmartre and built a reputation painting street scenes and urban landscapes. He exhibited for the first time at the Salon in 1938. One of his paintings, Caen Cathedral, received an honorable mention. After the war, he continued to live in Montmartre and exhibited regularly in galleries in Paris and the south of France (Cannes, Nice, Menton). In October 1969, the Cambacérès gallery (Paris) organized a retrospective of his work. Mério Ameglio died in Montmartre in 1970. This canvas is in perfect original condition, delivered in a pretty old gilded frame in the "Braque" style. Work guaranteed authentic.
