Pair of Japanese saddles from the end of the 19th century attributed to Gabriel Viardot presenting a structure in carved, molded exotic wood, decorated with polished varnished bronze depicting mascarons with lion or dragon heads as well as falls with a naturalistic motif. Marble top tray. The openwork belt takes up the Far Eastern decorative repertoire, the tripod base has uprights in fleur-de-lis curves and counter-curves joined by a spacer top carved and openwork with a motif of a peony branch. These two harnesses are influenced by the incense tables of Far Eastern furniture, to be used ideally as sculpture-holder harnesses or to support a beautiful Asian vase.
