Antoine Ponchin was born in Marseille in 1872. A student of Jean-Baptiste Olive, he exhibited from 1893 until his death in Paris in 1933, at the Salon des Artistes Français. He also participated in the international maritime exhibition in Bordeaux in 1907, in the colonial exhibition in Marseille, and was winner of the Indochina prize the same year. His paintings can be seen exhibited at the following museum in Chambéry, Nîmes and Rouen. Please note: the window is slightly broken at the bottom left near the signature
